Overview
Experience one of Africa’s largest and most untouched wildlife sanctuaries on this 3-day join-in safari from Dar es Salaam. Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) offers an authentic wilderness adventure far from crowds, where vast plains, river systems, and woodlands support rich wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, wild dogs, and over 440 bird species.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous & Sunset Boat Safari
Early morning pick-up from your hotel or airport in Dar es Salaam and drive (approx. 3–4 hours) to Selous Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, set out on a sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife as the sun sets over the wilderness. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park with packed lunch. Explore the park’s diverse landscapes, from open plains to miombo woodlands, while searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and rich birdlife. In the late afternoon, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 3: Bush Walk Safari & Return to Dar es Salaam
Begin your day with a guided bush walk at around 6:00 AM, led by an armed ranger, to discover smaller wildlife and learn tracking skills. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then depart with a packed lunch for the drive back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the late afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your safari.
